Mandu Diaries: Ethnic Fashion Against a Heritage Sunset

Some journeys are about the places you visit, and some become special because of the memories you create there. My visit to Mandu during my Madhya Pradesh tour was a little bit of both.

Mandu, perched in the Vindhya ranges, is a historic heritage city known for its magnificent palaces, pavilions and monuments. Its most famous stories are associated with the legendary Rani Roopmati and Baz Bahadur.

One of the highlights of my visit was Rani Roopmati Mahal, beautifully positioned on a hilltop overlooking the landscape. Reaching the mahal involves quite an uphill walk, but the views — especially at sunset — make it completely worthwhile.

And for such a beautiful heritage setting, I wanted my outfit to have a traditional touch.

I chose an organza embroidered skirt paired with a chiffon embroidered short kurti. The traditional silhouette complemented the heritage surroundings beautifully, and the sunset from the mahal made the photographs even more special.

But what I loved most was that the outfit wasn’t just beautiful — it was comfortable enough to walk uphill and explore.

The lightweight fabrics also worked wonderfully in the warm Madhya Pradesh weather. It reminded me once again that the best fashion is not just about how it looks; it is about how comfortably you can live in it.

At Nine2Five, this is something we truly believe in — fashion should fit into a woman’s life. Whether it is ethnic wear, everyday fashion or corporate wear, elegance and comfort can go hand in hand.

This Mandu look was my little meeting of heritage, travel and timeless fashion — captured against one of the most beautiful sunsets of the trip.
